DAR was founded on October 11, 1890, by a group of women who wanted to express their patriotism and honor their American Revolutionary War ancestors. Those ladies proposed the objectives of the Society that we still follow to this day. The ideals of historical preservation, educating the public about the founding principles of the American government, and of course patriotism. DAR is a non-political, women’s service organization.
Today, more than 1,000,000 members have joined in the founders’ footsteps and continue to honor their determination and love of the country through grassroots volunteer work. When you join DAR you join a network of women passionate about serving our country and preserving our heritage for future generations.
